Do you literally think they had a laithe back then? (For inept people, that's a machine that can make things like table legs) This is a good depiction seeing as how they pretty much had to use chisels to make these by the dozen. They weren't going to make them perfect each time.

Yeah, but there weren't any machines that made a perfectly shaped but non-smooth thingy... All the faces of that handle are exactly the same... That's probably harder to pull off irl than just a smooth handle. I still think we should stick with smooth...

I'm pretty sure they had one of those stone cylender things with a surface similar to sand paper, thats how they would smooth.

So why does this thing look like it has perfectly chamfered edges? Like a deca-uber-mega-hedron, almost.

Well it was all of US that told him to lower poly, remember? If you browse the FF thread you'll see it.

Lol. You guys know that a weapon model will run just fine with 2000 polygons, right? You can have 4000 and it'll run fine too...

Poly count doesn't matter for shit. What does matter is the tris count. A highres weapon can be 4-6k tris, while a aveerage should be 2-3k tris. For a weapon of runescape's simplicity it should be 1k tris at the most.
